Today, we’re taking a break from interviews and conferences. Yesterday evening, we had a little party for “Southern Star” old timers. Around 20 persons, all of whom had navigated onboard “Southern Star” in the 1980s, came to recall the period during which the boat belonged to the Applied Physics laboratory of Johns Hopkins University. In the course of the evening, we learned that, in 1983, Crosby, Still, Nash & Young filmed the video clip for the song “Southern Cross” onboard “Southern Star”. The presentation of the expedition to the International Studies Charter High School of Miami (ISCHS) was a great success. Interviews conducted with the City of Miami (Sustainable Initiatives Department), with the National Weather Service Forecast (NOAA), and with the Rosentiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science have given us the material we need to begin delineating the stakes linked to the increase of violent meteorological phenomena. Our investigation continues tomorrow. It will be a busy day. Departure at 5:30 a.m., return expected at 11 p.m.
